*
there’s a fireside waiting for me somewhere, where the mountains
roll down to verdant valleys that disappear into winter mist…
there’s a sunny window and a veranda draped in shade
and a dancing fireside that calls to me by name
where the breeze is softly fragranced with nature’s mingled scents
and birdcalls echo melodies in the mist
as the smell of homemade bread tumbles from open windows
joining woodsmoke as it freely drifts
down the verdant valleys
and disappears into winter mist…
ah yes there is a fireside somewhere waiting
for my wandering feet to cease to roam
a fireside waiting somewhere
at a place I will call home.

Soft as a Sigh
I pushed the persistent hum of traffic away
late shoppers and soccer mum’s
beating the sun home…
… I ignore the neighbour who talked too loud
and the general noises of community living
pots clanging, cupboards banging
the early news competing with throbbing music…
… I removed myself from the squalor
of run-down units –
- flying back along a bush track
to a day when both sun and moon
shared the same sky
and wind-whispered echoes
fell soft as a sigh.

Fading Winter Warmth
the afternoon softly fell
into lengthening shadows
speckled shade spread a patchwork
on overgrown grass…
the sinking sun caressed with the warmth of a lover
warming my hair, my face…
soft kisses on eyes that closed
to accept the touch
of fading winter warmth.

My sweet friend…it is how you express that which is within you, that gives cause for me & I know others, to marvel at your wonderful ability to bring to life what we can only feel. You take me/ us on a journey within…with sincere thought & emotion…encouraging us to feel what you feel. And now with your trip to the top end…we see the outside as well….as you see it. You would be the most interesting travel companion my dear…most interesting. I am well…thank you for asking….a restful Sunday for once…spent with you & my friends here. hugs
