Takamine with Martin Strings.

This is an odd blog by me.

I have a Takamine Jasmine. It is a beginner guitar but I really like its deep resonance.

I put a set of Martin 80/20 light on it and the sound is classic Martin, crisp, bright and clear, but I have lost some of the Deeper tones that I fell in love with.

Does anyone have strings they would recommend?

I too have a Takamine only it is an ean10c……..
DLemur uses this guitar most all the time when he playin don’t ya know :groovy:
I use D’Addario 80/20 bronze…either that or chicken wire which is much cheaper but really chews up my fingers…..But I mean that’s pretty much an open choice ya know Roscoe,I guess what ever sounds best to you….

Looks to be a great all purpose guitar. I have been thinking about an EJ-160e.

Yea my ean10c…still sound full and rich even though I have beaten it senseless over the years…lol
Takamine makes one tough git….thats for sure….not that toughness is what most people are looking for…still all and all it doesn’t hurt either…

  2. HOLY COW!! I USED TO HAVE A TAKAMINE JASMINE!!

I bought it for my ex-wife when we were still together. Her name was Jasmine. In the divorce, I got it back.

Here’s me playing it really badly…

The Takamine was the guitar of mine that got stolen out of my car that prompted me to go out and buy my first ukulele. So, in a way, the Takamine Jasmine was responsible for me picking up the uke!

Can’t go wrong with Martin anything.

That said, we uke players swear by Aquila strings. Best on the market, by far. Turns out, they make guitar strings too.

The next time I have a bit of cash on hand (and I meant that just the way it sounded, like saturday I picked up another guitar stand and some large triangle picks and a capo cause mine somehow dissappeared) I will give Aquila strings a try. $15 to $20 to change the sound of your guitar. Hey its how we entertain ourselves.

I’m gonna go play now. Only Soccer on Television.

Ya know for agressive strumming you should go to the Large Triangle picks that were popular with folk singers in the seventies.

I use one. They are great with songs like ‘Give a little bit” ~supertramp or “Sunshine” ~Jonathon Edwards

That’s one of the differences and why a ukulele is not just a “little guitar”.. we don’t use pics. It’s all about the hand, and as you might imagine, there’s a lot more different things and techniques that come with that.
