FORCED RESIGNATION
2012-05-03 at 03:35 pmI think my bosses must’ve found out I’m looking for another job. They’re making my life very difficult, right now. They’re being real dicks (and that includes the women).
Firstly, I was moved yet again! I have lost count of how many times I’ve been moved (it’s at least six times, in the past year). I am now sitting next to a Scot!
In an ideal world, that alone would be sufficient grounds for a legitimate forced resignation (intolerable working environment). Add the fact that her “perfume” smells like fly spray, and it should really be an open-and-shut case.
I have the distinct feeling my every move is being monitored.
I think I’m being micro-managed, or something. Don’t they have anything better to do?
I am almost constantly harassed, by my eight bosses.
They completely ignore whatever I say. They just don’t listen. I recently put this to the test. Ricky asked me if I like working for the company (hahahahahaaaaaa). I said, “No!” She just carried on talking. It evidently doesn’t matter what I say, at this point (which is actually pretty cool). ![]()
I wanna get out of there. I’m just so sick of all the bullshit… But the question is: How difficult is it to prove I was forced to resign? I wonder how many people have actually succeeded…
Joe.

I take it this is a legal type situation in the UK. If you are “Forced to Resign” then you get the UK equivalent of Unemployment Insurance?

Yeah; for what it’s worth… Haven’t got to that point yet. I’m still plotting.

I feel for ya man. My job is the same amount of bullshit as its always been, but its amazing how having your pay cut 35% changes one’s perspective on it.
Did they take your stapler too?

No, but I think someone is stealing my paper clips. I’m gonna burn down the building.
What they did to you just ain’t right, Joko. 35% is a lot.

Unfortunate employment situations are common, joe -- you are definitely not in a unique sitch. Which doesn’t do much to help you at the moment, but does add long-term perspective.
You can plan for future situations by having your finances in order, changing careers, explore expanding your skill set, or finding a niche to start your own business. Though you will still rely on the dubious whims of others -- they just go by a different name than bosses: customers.
You cannot see it now, but it often turns out to be the case that your next employment opportunity will prove to have benefits you prefer over your current post.
Best wishes on your speedy, “employment modification”, joe.

At this point, ANY “employment modification” would be an improvement. It’s just a pity about this damned recession. I know the grass is always greener… But it comes to a point where enough is enough.
Thanks for the advice, Hyper.
