I Miss Missing Someone Tonight

Been a long hard day

Come home from the job

Drop my stuff on the floor

I live like a slob

That is because

There’s no one to nag

To pick up my clothes

Or take out the trash bag

I plop in the chair

Crack open a beer

Deafening silence

Is all that I hear

I know inside

Something  ain’t right

I miss

Missing someone tonight.

I flip through the channels

Just to hear the sound

So I don’t have to think

‘Bout how no one’s around

I go to the desk

And harvest my crops

Just so I know

My heart has not stopped

I go to the fridge

And micro a meal

Oh how I long

For cooking that’s real

I know inside

Something ain’t right

I miss

Missing someone tonight

I rise from my meal

Head off to bed

The only good night

Is the voice in my head

I lay down to sleep

All by myself

Eleven it says

On the clock on my shelf

I clutch on the pillow

Wishin it were she

Drift off in the night

I’m  lonely as can be

I know inside

Something ain’t right

I miss

Missing someone tonight

I miss

Missing someone tonight

  3. Did you compose this? (I’m bad on knowing songs and titles).

Thanks. Been writing songs for years, but never got anywhere with it. I had a band in my youth… My bandmates were interested more in the sex and drugs than they were the rock and roll. It didn’t work out.

Interesting! Maybe you can get something going again, only with a better group this time! Or even forget the group and go solo--like Johnny Cash, no?
