Another Anti-Gay Sermon
2011-07-03 at 03:21 pmI don’t like checking out a new church on a holiday. It’s hardly ever a typical service and you can pretty much guess what the sermon’s gonna be about.
So, rather than try out the new church I was considering, I went back to Solid Rock Church. That’s the one I went to last week, the one with the anti-gay rant. I thought surely they would have a typical overly patriotic Independance Day sermon.
Nope, SRC is not your typical church and surprised me with something totally unrelated to the Fourth of July….
Another anti-gay sermon.
I’m beginning to like this church. Looks like they’re gonna give me something to blog about every time I go there.
Today’s sermon was preached by co-pastor Darlene Bishop. Apparently they switch off preaching duties between the two campuses of the church, one in Lebanon Ohio, and one in Cincinnati. Pastor Lawrence Bishop was preaching at the Lebanon church today.
The sermon topic was the assault on the family. Naturally, LGBT folk are Satan’s minions leading this assault.
She made the statement, “Our children and grandchildren are going to live in a world where it’s normal for a man to marry a man.”
To which I was thinking, “Oh, if only….”
The emphasis was on male homosexuals, because God created Adam to be the foundation, and Satan wants to destroy that foundation. Homosexuality comes from “a spirit that Satan pulled out of hell to destroy every nation.”
Satan’s insidious plan is to remove the differences between men and women (never mind Galatians 3:28) and homosexuals want to act like girls.
I wanna act like a girl? I dunno about that. Some of the most macho guys I’ve known have been gay. And some of the most effeminate have been straight.
I gotta wonder where people get this stuff. All they’re telling me, and anybody else who actually knows a gay or two, is that they really don’t know a whole heck of a lot lot about homosexuality.
Then they wonder why I won’t just take their word for it.

You went back there? Gosh, I would have thought you would have already shaken the dust off your shoes.
Have you ever visited a Church of Religious Science, the Course in Miracles people? I consider them to be Metaphysics-lite. Now they probably won’t give you anything to Blog about, but most likely, you would walk out smiling

Yep. It’s actually not a bad church, except for the anti-gay craziness. I was kinda hoping to see what a normal sermon would be like and figured they’d have a typical 4th of July sermon.
Nope. Just another anti-gay sermon.
It’s a pretty good size church. You gotta wonder how many LGBT people are sitting in the pews. There’s gotta be more than one.
No, I’ve never been to a Church of Religious Science. There’s probably one in the area, but not within my range. I’m limited to places I can walk to, so there ain’t a lot to choose from.

Well, since walking a great distance would be a problem, I know where you can get a great sermon about Life from somebody growing a few feet away from where you live.

Very sad. The Modern Christian Church would not recognize Jesus if He walked through the door. At least most of them would not anyway…in my opinion. There will be a time soon…when a Preacher makes such a statement and the whole congregation gets up and walks out. I’m thinking that is what I’d have done… Sorry you had to endure such a thing.

That actually happened last week. It wasn’t the whole congregation, but four people got up and walked out when he started his anti-gay rant.
I mighta walked out, too, but I’d just two miles to get there and was plum tuckered out.

And a female Preacher too… It has not been that long ago that women were not allowed to be Preachers. How soon people forget…huh.

Hardcase. Did you or not, on another blog just demean President Obama by saying he had a Gay lover? Yup. You are love incarnate.
